The holiday-most of the residents have spent Christmas at home and with their friends. Carol singers have been numerous, And shopkeepers have been all smiles, one that trade generally had been better than he anticipated. Various sick and draw clubs have been the means of supplementing the “labour” money buy a few shillings in many cases, and with turkeys at 1s. Per lb.  the festive bird found its way into Cottage homes, and in not a few instances the roasting tin was found too small for the bed.
